As a longtime Pokémon enthusiast, I had mixed feelings about the newest releases Sword and Shield when I started playing them. The game certainly looked beautiful, and I loved the new Pokémon designs, but like so many I was quite disappointed by the news of Dexit. In the end, I loved this game and feel that Sword has taken the franchise in an awesome direction.
As a Chicagoland native, getting to run around underneath L tracks while rooting out corruption in my favorite city was a fantastic experience, complemented by varied and interesting gameplay mechanics.
When Super Mario Maker 2 came out, I decided to pick it up right away despite my huge backlog. It was a great decision - like most first-party Switch titles, the game is an absolute blast to play, although it does suffer a little from Nintendo’s frustrating decisions regarding online play.
I’ve finally gotten started on my Zelda Timeline project, and recently completed my first playthrough of Skyward Sword. Maybe it’s because my expectations were low - this game seems to get a lot of hate - but I really enjoyed my time spent exploring Hyrule’s distant past!
As a lifelong Pokémon player, I was initially wary of the changes in the Pokémon Let’s Go games. I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy a beautiful nostalgia trip through Kanto - albeit with a few caveats.
Assassin’s Creed II was the game that pushed me back into console gaming after years of focusing only on handhelds. After earning my first platinum trophy for this game, I figured it’d be a great title to write my first review on.
