In January, I mostly revisited some old favorites and worked on my backlog, and I’ll be continuing that in February!
Pokémon is one of my favorite video game franchises of all time - I literally grew up with the games, as I first started playing at 11 years old, when Red/Blue were released in the US. As the Pokédex has grown over the years, I’ve developed some favorites that I choose for my teams over and over. After watching an old video by TamashiiHiroka listing her favorite Pokémon in each type, I decided it’d be fun to pick my own favorites.
As a longtime Pokémon enthusiast, I had mixed feelings about the newest releases Sword and Shield when I started playing them. The game certainly looked beautiful, and I loved the new Pokémon designs, but like so many I was quite disappointed by the news of Dexit. In the end, I loved this game and feel that Sword has taken the franchise in an awesome direction.
I hit a pretty big milestone in my gaming collection recently - a full set of Pokémon core series games! I was missing the original Gameboy version of Gold and when my brother heard that it was the only one I didn’t have, he generously gifted me his childhood copy so I could have the full set.
As a lifelong Pokémon player, I was initially wary of the changes in the Pokémon Let’s Go games. I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy a beautiful nostalgia trip through Kanto - albeit with a few caveats.
When I recently replaced the dead battery in my Pokéwalker, I was surprised to find a Pokémon from an old HeartGold save file still in it! It took some trial and error, but I was able to reset the Pokéwalker even though the original save file had been erased.

With the Pokédex so large now, it’s impossible to get all of the evolutionary stones I need through regular gameplay. I’ve been searching for a better way to farm evolutionary stones than Super Training, and finally discovered an answer buried in an old Arqade stack exchange post.
