My Favorite Switch Accessories for Travel

One of the reasons I love the Nintendo Switch so much is that it’s so much easier for me to find time to play it! I travel a lot for work or to visit family & friends, and being able to take my Switch with me really provides a lot of extra gameplay time I’d never have otherwise. I’ve been spending a lot of time on long plane rides lately, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite accessories for traveling with my Switch. Of course, they’re all gold/Zelda-themed to fit my collection!

  • Nintendo Switch Game Traveler Deluxe Case - This is a vinyl shell-style case that includes two small plastic game holders that sit underneath your Switch console when it’s stored. It’s great for solo travel as I can easily carry up to eight game cards safely & securely. There’s a small divider pouch that I put the Joycon wrist straps in. My only complaint is that there’s not enough room for my USB-C charging cord.

  • USB-A to USB-C power cord - I cannot for the life of me find the one I have anywhere online. It was Nintendo-approved and I know I purchased it at Gamestop. It’s convenient to have something that can plug into USB chargers or a powerbank for travel (plus the a/c charger that comes with the Switch is super bulky). I know that a few people reported a bricked Switch from using unlicensed power supplies, so it’s probably worth buying a Nintendo-approved product.

  • Jackery PowerBar - While it may seem counterintuitive to bring a giant power brick after shirking the a/c adapter charger for size, this is the best power bank for long travel I’ve ever had. I actually bought it because I can charge my laptop with it as well, but it works beautifully for charging the Switch, and has enough power that I can play and charge at the same time.

  • Hori Compact Play Stand - This is where my travel setup veers into full nerd territory. But I regularly fly 4+ hours, and having a stand to prop up the Switch makes it much more comfortable to play. This one is very affordable, looks great, and folds up to a compact size to make it useful for travel.

  • PowerA Wireless GameCube-style Controller - I only bring a separate controller when I know I’m going to be on the road for a while, but this controller is worth the space in my bag. It’s perfect for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, but I also prefer using it when playing fast-paced platformers - prevents finger soreness from button mashing!

If you’ve got any must-have travel accessories for the Switch, I’d love to hear about them in the comments! ✈️
